Hello, we’re Pah and Bijen, the founders of Muay Thai Essentials (MTE). Our story began with a shared passion for Muay Thai, a love for combat sports, and a deep desire to create gear that empowers women. What started as a frustration with ill-fitting gear soon became a mission to change the industry—gear that works, fits, and feels feminine for women in Muay Thai and boxing.

Pah, born and raised in Bangkok, has always had a passion for fashion and design. But as she spent more time training in Muay Thai, she realized something was missing: gear made specifically for women. The shorts were either too baggy, uncomfortable, or didn’t fit the way they should. As a fighter, Pah needed something that felt comfortable, functional, and feminine—not just oversized men’s gear that didn’t work for her body.

I (Bijen), originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, have always been passionate about Muay Thai and boxing. Watching Pah struggle with gear that wasn’t built for her needs, I knew there had to be a better way. That’s when I said, “Why not design something for women that actually works?” And just like that, the idea for Muay Thai Essentials was born.

Together, we set out to create MTE, a brand dedicated to making female-focused Muay Thai and boxing gear that doesn’t compromise style or performance. What began with a simple idea evolved into a mission to redefine female gear in a male-dominated sport—gear that empowers women to feel strong, comfortable, and confident.

How It All Began

With that spark of inspiration, we got to work. I encouraged Pah to take her fashion expertise and combine it with the functionality needed for women’s Muay Thai and boxing gear. The idea for Muay Thai Essentials was born: gear that’s designed by women, for women—something that allows women to fight hard, feel strong, and look great.

Pah traveled to Thailand, the heart of Muay Thai, to find the right manufacturer. We worked together to make sure our designs were made with luxury fabrics, a true female fit, and real performance. Our mission? To break the mold of gendered sports gear and create something that represents both femininity and strength.

What Makes MTE Different

We didn’t want to just create any Muay Thai gear. We wanted to redefine the female fighter’s experience.

• True Female Fit: No more awkward, ill-fitting shorts. We designed gear with wide hips, higher waistbands, and graceful side slits that actually fit the female form, giving you comfort and confidence.
• Luxury Feel: From poly-satin to soft Nylon/Spandex liners, we use only the highest quality materials to create gear that feels as good as it looks.
• Modern Aesthetics: We blend feminine aesthetics with combat functionality. Our gear is inspired by pastel palettes, rose-gold trims, and designs reflecting lotus blooms and starry Bangkok nights.
• Full-Contact Function: Every piece of gear is sparring-tested to ensure it performs under pressure. Reinforced seams, stretch cotton hand-wraps, and other functional features are built to withstand the toughest rounds.

At MTE, we believe that access to high-quality gear shouldn’t be based on privilege. That’s why a portion of every sale goes toward funding glove-and-wrap scholarships for girls in grassroots Muay Thai gyms in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Because confidence in the ring should never depend on what your parents can afford.
